The service users at Horley CSP were lucky enough to go on a guided, ‘behind the scenes’ tour of Gatwick Airport. The CSP service users have been volunteering at Horley Station, doing a wonderful job of maintaining the plant beds there. As a very special ‘thank you’, Southern Rail invited these volunteers to have free travel to Gatwick, and have a wonderfully in depth tour of the airport.
Our service users saw the North and South Terminals, had an exclusive look at the control room, and even got to stand under the flight path as planes took off. They were met by the police officers who serve Gatwick, as well as their gorgeous and very talented furry friends, the sniffer dogs. Last but not least, they received a very impressive display by the airport’s Tesla cars, which quite literally put on a song and dance.
This is the first time that Gatwick has hosted a group like County Care, and it was indeed very special. Our service users thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and will remember this amazing day for the rest of their lives.
Thank you to Southern Rail and Gatwick Airport for hosting us!
