Our CSP group in Horley applied for the ‘Bags of Help’ Initiative at Tesco, and thanks to the votes of the community, won the grant.
They decided to purchase a polytunnel for their allotment, as this would allow them to grow fresh produce that they could not grow before, and make year-round gardening possible.
The Mayor of Horley, Cllr. David Powell attended and cut the ribbon to mark this exciting moment for our CSP. Other local councillors also attended, and many others came to visit the allotment and the Community Skills Project itself for their open day, which took place on the same day.
The service users at Horley CSP plan to turn this gardening hobby into a business, growing and selling fresh produce to residents of the surrounding areas.
We would like to thank the community of Horley for nominating County Care for this grant, as well as Lisa and Tesco for making all of this possible.
We are very excited for the future – Watch this space!
